Riven Slate

Everybody's favorite - Italian Black Riven Slate. With a natural, wavy, contoured wood type grain, Riven slate is the perfect compliment to the most traditional of fireplace and stove installations. Great for heavy traffic areas where any scratches will blend in to the already rustic appearance of the stone.

Un oiled (although susceptible to tiny marks and scratches) is more of a dry charcoal grey colour which will show the stone in its rawest beauty

Oiling is a good idea if you are particular about tiny marks and scratches. It's straightforward home maintenance, recommended probably twice a year. Oiling will feed the slate making it more darker and consistent in appearance.
